We Are Here to Help You Through These Challenging Times
Maplewood Senior Living continues to work with families to provide a supportive living arrangement for seniors requiring care. We have adjusted our move-in and short-term respite guidelines temporarily to keep our communities safe and healthy.
We are accepting new residents moving in from:
- Hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
- Living at home, who need a more secure and supportive situation.
- Living temporarily with family.
What You Can Expect Prior to Move-In
Transparent Communication
- We will inform referral partners, discharge planners, and residents and families if we have any active COVID-19 cases in our community.
- We will also provide full details of our enhanced assessment process, and protocols that our community has in place, including how we adhere to “safer at home” state advisories and other public health mandates.
Virtual Assessments
- We are conducting virtual assessments by closely communicating with the hospitals and rehabilitation teams, or directly with families and their physicians when moving a loved one in from home.
Tours & Paperwork
- We are using FaceTime, Google Hangout, Skype and Zoom, to allow new residents and families to explore our common spaces and available apartments.
- All paperwork is being finalized with electronic signatures or utilizing email and fax to protect everyone's safety.
Health Assessments & Evaluations
- We are conducting enhanced health assessments at this time. Our nurses work with families and physicians to evaluate each new resident, with a full assessment of the person’s current health status and develop an individualized plan of service and care.
- We require that each new resident be tested for detection of COVID-19 and receive a negative result before move-in.
What You Can Expect During Move-In
Move-in Protocol
- Professional movers may assist with the move.
- Everyone must pass our community health screen, including taking a temperature.
- Everyone must wear protective gear, including gloves and masks.
- Furniture must be disinfected before moving it into the building. After furniture is placed in the apartment, our staff will spray the entire apartment using a non-toxic CDC-approved disinfectant spray.
- If families are not able to coordinate moving furniture we have fully furnished apartments for short-term rental.
What You Can Expect After Move-In
Protocol for All New Residents & Family Visits
- Our “safer in place” protocol extends to all new residents. During this time we ask that new residents remain in their apartments as much as possible (quarantine). This protective measure is necessary until we can confirm that the new resident is not an asymptomatic carrier of the virus that causes Covid-19.
- We re-test each new resident 2-4 days after moving in and if the results are negative the resident can be taken off the “safer in place” protocol.
- After receiving the new resident’s negative test result, normal activity, including in-person outdoor visitation can occur.
- Onset of COVID-19 symptoms at any time after move-in would require full quarantine and precautions until the resident is no longer considered contagious.
Additional Community-wide Precautions
- New residents will be monitored daily, as we have been doing for current residents and all associates, using the community’s health screen which includes taking a temperature.
- New residents and their families will be advised of the public health protocols in place at the community, which may include state-mandated physical distancing, restrictions on family visits, limits on communal dining and group activities, and in some cases, local mandatory community-wide testing. As soon as mandated restrictions are lifted we will implement new protocols to ensure a safe return to normal activities.
